Chapter 665: Last Chance

Chapter 665: Last Chance

Translator: Panda_Penn Editor: Chrissy

The Clouds Sea was not in peace. The thunderstorm concentrated over a small region but it affected other areas as well.

The sea wind was fierce, stirring up monstrous tides. Darkness fell. It was suffocating. Because of the thunderstorm, Xuan Beasts in the region were becoming irritable and restless. Underneath the surface, many Xuan Beasts were fighting against each other in the sea, creating up more tides.

Hu Lang didn’t dare to fly up too high as the dark clouds were not stable. There were some electric charges within the clouds. He was concerned that he would be struck by lightning if he ascended too high up. He might be able to stand it while Lu Li on his back wouldn’t.

Lu Li was weak. He was as pale as a piece of paper. Like a mother just after labor, there was no single trace of blood on his face.

Hu Lang had developed a theory of his own. He didn’t know how Lu Li released that horrifying skill but he did understand that Lu Li was not able to give full play to that skill just yet.

In other words—forcing himself to use that skill had backfired.

When a person that could only hold something of 100 pounds forced himself to lift up an item of 200 pounds, he might succeed with great effort but his body wouldn’t be able to shoulder that burden.

Injuries of this sort could be fatal because it was the source of his energy that was harmed. Just like a soul injury, Lu Li couldn’t recover by using some elixirs. He must take time to heal bit by bit.

The Teleportation Formations were destroyed so no reinforcement could come to rescue any time soon. Hu Lang didn’t dare to fly to the Clouds Plains nor the Serenity Plains so the only choice he had was heading toward the north.

There would be powerful Xuan Beasts in the sea and they might even run into Beast Kings if fate was not on their side. But this was not the primary concern Hu Lang had at the moment. If he didn’t run, Recluse Solar Dragon and Zhao Moyang would catch up. By then, death was not to be escaped.

Hu Lang and Lu Li were ambushed by three Human Sovereign Realm warriors. But whoever was behind the scheme must have backup plans. What if there were more Noble Lord Realm warriors in hiding? Hence, Hu Lang was trying his best to fly away, at least to buy some time for Lu Li to recover.

Speed was not Hu Lang’s strong suit but he was a Human Sovereign Realm warrior nonetheless. He rushed on for half a day and had covered a distance that he had lost count on. Finally, he made stop.

He found a small island. Fearing to leave any tracks behind, he sat on a reef by shore. He fed Lu Li another healing pellet and took one himself.

He sat with his legs crossed to take a rest. He was wounded as well and had been flying for a long time. He would be exhausted without taking a break.

Hu Lang resumed his fast escape after two hours. He was still heading toward the north.

Only this time, his luck ran out. After he was on route for merely two hours, tides surged up as high as two miles. Then, he spotted a huge head in the sea.

“Run—”

Feeling the terrifying qi and energy from the Xuan Beast, Hu Lang made a turn for the east without any hesitation. That Xuan Beast was a Beast King, which Hu Lang was not afraid of. He might even kill it with utmost effort.

However, it was not the time to fight against a Beast King. What was the point even if he could kill it? He had Lu Li on his back and if Lu Li was injured again, Hu Lang would definitely be held accountable.

Hu Lang escaped, disgracefully. The Beast King pursued them in the ocean. Its huge body stirred up the water as if a tsunami was coming.

Fortunately, Hu Lang was fast and the Beast King was not that quick. After being on the run for thousands of miles, Hu Lang noticed the Beast King had sneaked deep into the ocean. That being said, Hu Lang didn’t dare to make any stop. He turned around and flew toward the east.

Above the vast sea, Hu Lang was flying with Lu Li on his back. He didn’t know how far away he was or where he was. Like a homeless dog, he didn’t dare to stop anywhere longer than an hour during his crazy escape.

He had a sense that the enemies were right after them. It seemed that they had some powerful tracking abilities to follow him around and they might catch up at any moment now.

This feeling was groundless but Human Sovereign Realm warriors were intuitive. Hu Lang chose to trust his guts.

He had been flying for two days and a night but there was no indication that Lu Li would wake up. He looked better now but he was still pale. His lips were white and his eyes were sunken.

Hu Lang was right to trust his intuition, just like he did at the underground palace. Two people had been chasing him. Recluse Solar Dragon and Zhao Moyang had been on Hu Lang’s tail for two days and a night.

The fact that they could catch up so quickly and so accurately was not because they possessed some tracking abilities. Recluse Solar Dragon had a green crystal in his hand. The crystal had been glowing and guarding the direction.

The Great Land was vast and densely populated with a history of millions of years. With the constant efforts from generations of chose warriors, the flourishing age was upon the human race. Over millions of years, many wondrous items were created, among which was the green crystal.

It was called the Tracking Stone. If a small Tracking Stone was planted on the target, the parent stone could keep tracking. Hu Lang and Lu Li would be tracked everywhere they went as long as the stone was on them.

“Hu Lang must have sensed something. Or he would have stopped. He is on the way for two days and a night now.”

Looking at glistening green crystal in his hand, Recluse Solar Dragon said solemnly. After he was defeated at the Black Tortoise City, the Solar Dragon Island was no longer a paradise for him. If he didn’t relocate those living on the island, none of them could survive Lu Ling’s heartless methods.

But where could he relocate them to?

There was nowhere to be other than the Central Plains. He was displeased that after so many years he had made zero progress on his realm given that resources at the Solar Dragon Island were scarce.

This was the only chance he could get. Killing Lu Li would mean that he could return to the Central Plains, being protected by the major forces and occupy a region. He could not only pocket resources but also handsome young men…

“Go on!”

Zhao Moyang said with a helpless sigh, “Are there any other choices apart from chasing them down? Reinforcements from the Wei Family and the Empire of Clouds Prowess will not arrive any time soon. We still stand a chance.”

“Sure…”

Recluse Solar Dragon nodded. He looked toward the northeast and said, “Another day to the north and they will be arriving at the Sea of Silence where there are more Beast Kings. I hear there must be dozens of them. Maybe Lu Li and Hu Lang will be eaten up by the Beast kings before we get there.”

“Don’t be so optimistic!”

Zhao Moyang sighed and said, “We thought no way we could lose at the underground palace and now Li Yang is dead without a complete body. So…we cannot be careless. If we catch up with them, that will be our final chance. We cannot screw it up.”

“Yes. I know.”

Recluse Solar Dragon nodded. The arrogance and hatred vanished from his face. Taking their places were decreed and composure. Zhao Moyang was right. This…was their last chance.
