Chapter 20: Alchemy
Stamina potions, mana potions, health potions, all important for a martial to use as their intense combat style does not leave much room to activate the active recovery aspects of skills.
When the vanguard is preventing the other party members from being attacked while they recover they do not get time to begin recuperation but they do have plenty of opportunities to drink potions.
The assassins get more opportunities but not by much as they have to do large portions kf damage to supplement what is lost.
Because of how many players completely ignored the training sections of the starting villages they rarely developed these recovery skills meaning they were even more reliant upon the potion market.
For a player like Kali this game was the perfect opportunity to explore their passion for crafting classes in vrmmorpgs.
For years she had played as every crafting class she could find in the multiple games that existed.
Blacksmith, artificer, alchemist, witchdoctor, she had gone through every possible class she could find and she adored the wealth that she gained from it.
She waa not simply after the wealth but when you are passionate about something that you can also monetize... why not?
The result of what she had trained to do was a player who began with a deep understanding of the fundamentals for crafting.
When you trained to craft legendary grade items in the games you play you tend to develop a baseline of quality after all.
Once she had arrived at the closest city outside of the starting village she joined in she had immediately went to work finding the library or the closest alchemist to learn from.
She could probably beat their skills without any effort but she needed to know what the medicinal herbs of this world were.
It did not take her long to find a library that allowed one to borrow books but it had required her to do a quest to gain the librarian\'s trust.
Through her studies of the various books of herbs as well as notes she kept on useful ones for the most used potions she was able to start brewing at a guild\'s workshop.
She had spent her time at this guild well as she was able to produce more than ten potions for each type.
Not only that but since the base price of a market quality potion was two silver whe knew she would make a quick profit.
She effectively had sixty silver worth of potions all for the price of going collect the herbs.
In BLO currency was simple.
Copper, silver, gold and platinum.
One hundred copper was the equivalent of one silver, one hundred silver was one gold and one hundred gold was one platinum.
The problem was that some cities according to the guild would not allow you to trade up the value of your coins without a surcharge.
These cities tended to be human cities and the high elf cities but not every human city was like this.
When asked for an explanation for why some cities had this rule while others did not she was not given an answer, all she was given was a book.
The book had a starburst on the front which was interesting to her but when she began to read it she quickly realized she had been handed some form of scripture.
There was no name on the book nor did the first few pages clarify which church it came from and the only unique thing about it was that it constantly referenced some "holy luminous" whoever that was.
