Chapter 14 - 9: Martial Arts Master
Although Yan Fei felt the pain, in the blink of an eye, it had vanished. When he came to his senses, he discovered that his Drone Avatar had sustained severe damage.
Under the attack of the chair, the Drone’s weapon system was damaged and could no longer fire Steel Ball Bullets. Two of the four propellers on top were damaged and unable to rotate, and the remaining two were also malfunctioning. The Drone could still fly, but it was no longer able to maintain balance. Fortunately, the Drone’s power had not vanished; it could still continue to fly.
Yan Fei’s actual body, in the Minivan at the foot of the hill, suddenly opened his eyes, yanked open the car door, and quickly ran toward the mountainous area behind Zhang Baocheng’s villa, while the damaged Drone staggered toward the same area.
Yan Fei had truly been careless this time. In his pursuit of insider information, he had let down his guard and significantly reduced the Drone’s altitude. He hadn’t expected that someone from the organization behind Zhang Baocheng could hit his high-flying Drone Avatar with a chair and cause it serious injury.
The Drone Avatar was Yan Fei’s greatest reliance, and naturally, he wouldn’t allow it to be destroyed just like that. So, he controlled the Drone to fly toward the mountains, and his actual body also went to rendezvous with it.
Xiao Kong saw that the Drone was injured but had not crashed; instead, it was flying away, albeit wobblingly. He snorted coldly, leaped, and jumped down from the third floor. His body landed heavily on the ground, his knees bending slightly to dissipate the immense impact force, leaving him completely unharmed, then he chased in the direction the Drone had flown.
In the room, Zhang Baocheng’s face was ashen. Always cautious, he hadn’t expected his private conversation to be captured by the Drone. He didn’t know how long the Drone had been secretly filming, or what had been recorded, but just thinking about the consequences of some words being leaked made him shudder.
With this in mind, Zhang Baocheng immediately picked up the landline phone and instructed the villa’s security to follow Xiao Kong and chase after the Drone. They had to ensure that the Drone was thoroughly destroyed and its Storage Card recovered and then destroyed. If possible, they should also capture the person nearby who was controlling the Drone and bring him back.
Although Zhang Baocheng had made arrangements, he was still somewhat uneasy. His villa was on high security alert, especially concerning information security. The Villa District was always under an Electronic Barrier, which meant that he could only use landline phones for communication even inside. Supposedly, external Electromagnetic Signals shouldn’t be received in the Villa District, so how did the Drone fly in and film them?
As Yan Fei’s actual body swiftly ran on the ground, he also controlled the damaged Drone to fly into the forested mountains behind to meet up with him. The Drone was heavily damaged and looked like it was about to fall apart. If Yan Fei wasn’t directly controlling it, it would have crashed a long time ago. As the Drone flew into the mountains, the 360-degree Surveillance Camera suddenly spotted Xiao Kong, who was rapidly pursuing on the ground.
Xiao Kong looked thin, his appearance lethargic as if he had not fully woken up, but with each step on the ground, he could cover a distance of five meters, and he could leap over three meters high. His speed was incredibly fast. The high walls outside the villa seemed nonexistent to him as he jumped over them with ease. The Drone flew in a straight line above while he pursued over the uneven terrain below, yet he was closing the distance between them. Even though the Drone’s speed had significantly decreased due to damage, this only highlighted how fast Xiao Kong was.
Upon seeing Xiao Kong’s physical prowess, Yan Fei was greatly startled. It was the first time he had encountered such a formidable person in reality. The term “Martial Arts Master” suddenly came to his mind. Weren’t Martial Arts Masters fictional characters from novels and movies? How could they exist in reality? Could it be that this world really had Martial Arts Masters?
Yan Fei was sprinting on the ground; his physical condition, after undergoing two modifications, was four times what it had been before. Once he burst into full speed, he was almost as fast as a whirlwind, barely slower than Xiao Kong. He controlled his Drone Avatar to fly toward his location, hoping to intercept it before it crashed, preventing it from falling into Xiao Kong’s hands.
Finally, Yan Fei entered the forest, and the Drone Avatar also spotted its actual body from the air. It then started flying toward Yan Fei’s location. Watching the Drone Avatar wobbling toward him, Yan Fei was extremely nervous, fearing that it would just crash. He decided that once he retrieved the Drone, he would immediately return to the car at the bottom of the mountain and then leave the area. As for the Drone’s injuries, he wasn’t worried at all because, as soon as midnight struck, the Virtual Control Screen would fully refresh and under the influence of the Mysterious Power, all of the Drone’s injuries would automatically heal and it would be as good as new.
The Drone had captured enough explosive news tonight, and if he uploaded the video to the Internet, exposing Wang Xiaohong’s true nature, the online attacks against him would come to an abrupt end. And Zhang Baocheng’s involvement with the Mysterious Organization would be enough for him to be invited by state security to “have tea,” likely never to be seen again, and this time, no one would take the fall for him. In this way, Yan Fei would perfectly resolve his trouble.
And just as the drone was about to land in front of Yan Fei, a stone suddenly flew up from a distance, hitting the wobbling Drone Avatar right in the middle. The Drone Avatar emitted a crisp sound as its power faded, and then it could no longer hold on, plummeting down.
The Drone Avatar was damaged again, causing Yan Fei to feel a burst of pain throughout his body, though it disappeared quickly. He realized that the stone must have been thrown by Xiao Kong, who was following behind him. He had no idea how Xiao Kong had practiced, but the throw was not only far but also incredibly accurate.
Fortunately, the place where the drone crashed was not far from Yan Fei’s location. He quickly ran to the crash site, where he saw the drone had crashed into the top of a large tree, with the body of the drone severely damaged. Although it hadn’t fallen apart, it was in standby mode and could no longer be controlled. He ran, climbed the tree using his arms and legs, took down the drone, and then jumped off.
While Yan Fei was still in mid-air, he caught a blur from the corner of his eye as a figure suddenly darted out of the darkness, sweeping a leg around. Yan Fei struggled to dodge, but it was still too late, and his abdomen was fiercely kicked by the figure.
A wave of intense pain emanated from his abdomen, and Yan Fei let out a loud roar as blood sprayed from his mouth. He was then sent flying by the immense force, his body hurtling backward until it hit the trunk of another large tree, then he slid down weakly and lay motionless on the ground.
In just a brief encounter, Yan Fei was successfully taken by surprise and suffered severe injuries, losing his combat power. His lack of experience and absence of any fighting background contributed to this. He never knew that martial arts masters truly existed in the world, so he had never anticipated that one day he would be fighting hand-to-hand. Although his body possessed great strength, he had not been guided by a skilled master to unlock this power, so it was not surprising that he was so easily injured.
Seeing that Yan Fei couldn’t move, the figure finally stood still. Under the faint moonlight, it was none other than Xiao Kong who had chased him out of the room. At this moment, his body was tensed, his muscles twitching like a fierce tiger ready to pounce, and though he still appeared thin, he seemed like a giant, instilling fear in anyone who saw him.
Xiao Kong, seeing Yan Fei lying motionless, allowed a cold smile to appear on his lips as he approached. Suddenly accelerating towards Yan Fei, he delivered another kick that sent Yan Fei flying high into the air, his body tumbling through the air as he violently spat out blood, then once again he hit the ground and rolled several times, unmoving.
Unlike the inexperienced Yan Fei, Xiao Kong was a true veteran of the Jianghu. Confident in his own strength, he nonetheless refrained from blind optimism, always maintaining vigilance against his enemies. This was how he could strike suddenly, kicking an immobilized opponent when they least expected it. After hitting Yan Fei for the second time and seeing no reaction, Xiao Kong finally relaxed completely. He approached Yan Fei who was still cradling the drone in his arms, bent down, and took it away.
It was at that moment that Yan Fei suddenly opened his eyes, viciously glaring at Xiao Kong.
Xiao Kong was startled, realizing he had been tricked. He immediately threw away the drone and tried to quickly retreat, but at this close distance, his movements were not as fast as Yan Fei’s. Yan Fei’s arms stretched out like lightning, circling behind Xiao Kong and locking together, then he exerted his strength, fiercely enveloping Xiao Kong in his grasp.
Yan Fei, although seriously injured, was not completely devoid of combat ability due to his body having been transformed by a mysterious power. Upon realizing that Xiao Kong was a martial arts master, he knew he couldn’t match his opponent, so he played along, pretending to be dead. Only by doing so could he unexpectedly get close to Xiao Kong and use his body’s formidable physical condition to grapple with him. This was his only chance for survival. Otherwise, in a head-to-head fight with a skilled martial arts master, even with his strong body, Yan Fei would be beaten to death.
What Yan Fei did not expect was that Xiao Kong would be so cautious, still delivering an extra kick even when Yan Fei lay motionless, and only approaching after seeing no movement. And Yan Fei also understood this was a critical moment, enduring the pain and taking the blow without any reaction.
Xiao Kong had never imagined that Yan Fei’s physical condition was so robust, far exceeding that of ordinary people. He had been injured twice but had not completely lost his fighting ability. Xiao Kong, gauging Yan Fei’s injuries based on the endurance of a normal person, had thus fallen right into Yan Fei’s ploy.
Yan Fei stood up, firmly holding Xiao Kong in his embrace. He let out a furious roar, forcefully squeezing his arms inward. Xiao Kong’s entire body was gripped by excruciating pain, and being shorter, he was lifted off the ground by Yan Fei, leaving him without leverage and his arms trapped, rendering him incapable of any movement, his martial arts skills useless.
