Chapter 304 - 304 THE REAL WU JINHAI

Red blood immediately flowed from the wound, and Bai Chen panicked greatly when he noticed how Wu Jinhai looked in pain before his body helplessly fell to the ground, and he no longer moved on the ground.

Did Wu Jinhai just die?

Bai Chen was on the verge of tears, but then he could see something strange happened right after Wu Jinhai fell to the ground and died. The man was previously wearing his usual red robe, but suddenly the robe changed to a dull brown.

The clothes weren’t the only thing that had changed from the person lying lifeless on the ground. Apart from the clothes, Bai Chen also noticed how the man’s black hair which had previously been neatly tied behind his head had suddenly become messy and dirty, and when he saw the face that had previously been covered in a golden mask, the fave was now exposed. There was no golden mask.

The thing that shocked him the most was the fact that the person’s face looked nothing like Wu Jinhai’s. The person had a wide face and wrinkled skin, and there were even some scars on his face. Of course, the man’s face could not be compared with Wu Jinhai’s.

“W-what happened?” Bai Chen could only ask himself as he stood over the corpse in fear.

“How dare you mistake that ugly demon for me, Bai Chen?”

Suddenly, someone spoke not far from him, and Bai Chen’s body jerked before he shifted his blue eyes toward the person who had just asked him a question. There he could see another person dressed in red and also wearing a golden mask, but he didn’t want to easily believe that the man was Wu Jinhai even though his appearance did look like Wu Jinhai.

.....

Even if he was slow at times, Bai Chen could conclude that the dead man lying on the ground had just fooled him into mistaking the man for Wu Jinhai, and that was why he didn’t want to immediately believe the newcomer who had just appeared not far away from him.

“W-who are you? Were you the one who killed this person just now?” Bai Chen tentatively asked the newcomer as he used his foot to point at the lifeless man lying on the ground.

Hearing his question, the man in red snorted in disbelief before stepping closer to where Bai Chen was standing. Bai Chen’s blue eyes widened when he could see how the man was rapidly trying to approach him, and he even took a few steps back to keep his distance from the man.

“You instantly believed in this ugly demon, but you were trying to run away when you saw the real thing, Bai Chen? When are you going to stop being so clueless, huh?” The man in red sounded extremely frustrated, and Bai Chen finally stopped keeping his feet away from the masked man.

He certainly didn’t want to trust anyone easily when he was in an unfamiliar forest, but somehow he could recognize Wu Jinhai’s tone and gestures when the man was frustrated. Could it be that this one was the real Wu Jinhai?

Moreover, Bai Chen could then see how the man drew the sword from the unknown person’s corpse, and he recognized the sword as Wu Jiang.

“So... you are the real Wu Jinhai?” Bai Chen asked when the man in red stopped walking in front of him. Pointing his index finger at the lifeless body on the ground, he continued, “Then, who is that man? I believe I saw him wearing the same red clothes and also the same golden mask that you are currently wearing, Wu Jinhai. Even his voice sounds like yours, and that’s why I thought he was you.”

“Didn’t you hear when I said that he was a demon?” Frustrated, Wu Jinhai asked the man dressed in white standing before him. “That demon can eat humans and werewolves, and he tried to lure you using illusions. He is called the Yearning Demon, and once you make eye contact with him, you will see him as someone you want to see the most.”

“…” Bai Chen was silent as he listened to Wu Jinhai’s explanation.

“And just now you thought he was me, right, Bai Chen? Does that mean, I’m the person you want to meet the most?”

“…” Again, Bai Chen couldn’t answer.

When he thought about it some more, he remembered how he had really thought of Wu Jinhai when the demon had suddenly appeared before him, and in an instant, he felt that he was seeing Wu Jinhai instead of the demon’s true form.

That was how he almost fell into the demon’s trap, but he also couldn’t bring himself to admit it in front of Wu Jinhai either. Right now, he still remembered how he should have felt angry at that man, and that was why he refused to admit that he wanted to see him the most.

“What are you doing here?” Instead of answering Wu Jinhai’s question, Bai Chen asked back coldly.

Perhaps his heart was feasting beneath his ribs when he finally saw the real Wu Jinhai in front of him, but he was trying hard to maintain his expression so he wouldn’t look too happy at this moment.

“You left my palace, and I tried to look for you. Luckily, Wu Jiang managed to find you just before you were eaten by that ugly demon that you foolishly mistook for me,” Wu Jinhai replied as he glanced at the lifeless figure on the ground.

Wu Jinhai once again mentioned how Bai Chen had foolishly thought the demon was him, and Bai Chen looked embarrassed and could only look away from the man as he replied, “Why are you trying to find me?”

It was another question that came from the Werewolf Prince, and Wu Jinhai didn’t seem too pleased after hearing the question. “Should I be the one asking some questions this time, Bai Chen?” Instead of answering, Wu Jinhai asked back. “Why did you run from me? What mistake did I make that you decided to run away and endanger yourself tonight?”
